A first look at Batumi

Start with Europe Square’s astronomical clock, then wander to Piazza’s marble mosaic and the old port. Miracle Park brings the lighthouse, Ferris wheel and Alphabet Tower together at the northern end of the boulevard. Save a separate outing for the Botanical Garden at Green Cape; its wooded slopes are a different walk from the level seafront. For Adjarian khachapuri, Retro’s Takaishvili Street branch fits a pause near 6 May Park.

Choosing a season

The best-season badge suggests months for general sightseeing, using the typical daytime temperatures and rainfall in our monthly guides. Beach holidays, festivals, winter sports and northern lights trips may suit different dates.

Climate methodology

Maspindzeli tabulates 2011–2025 Batumi station averages attributed to daily Meteostat records: October average high 20.8°C and average low 13.9°C. These are secondary calculations, not directly retrieved station data. Packing bands round each figure and add ±2°C; they are not forecast limits or extremes. Its rainfall series uses separate 1981–2010 Batumi Airport normals, not the temperature period. JMA’s Batumi mean-temperature normals independently support the seasonal pattern; they do not supply these highs or lows. Always check your actual forecast.

Transport guide

Getting around Batumi

Use Batumi Autotransport’s live-bus website to check city routes and vehicle locations. The batauto Android app describes live positions, stops, timetables and point-to-point route planning; these are planning functions, not confirmed ticket purchase. Visit Batumi directs visitors to a rechargeable travel card for municipal buses. Tap the funded card on the onboard validator; repeat for each passenger when using the multi-person transport pass described by Visit Ajara. Obtain and top up the appropriate card before boarding and confirm the current fare and any included rides locally, as the tourism pages give inconsistent bundled-ride information. A route shown in an app does not establish coverage by a city ticket: check suburban services and garden connections separately. Do not assume intercity buses or private minibuses share the municipal payment system.

Check the operator’s current service notices and ticket instructions before travelling.
