Batumi’s Miracle Park and boulevard: a flexible seafront walk

Use the lighthouse, Ferris wheel and Alphabet Tower as anchors, then choose how much of the boulevard you want to walk. The promenade and its garden alleys make a good outing without a compulsory ride or boat trip.

01

Begin with the lighthouse and Ferris wheel

Start in Miracle Park at the northern end of the old boulevard, close to the harbour. Find the lighthouse with the Ferris wheel behind it: the small navigational building gives a very different scale from the modern skyline. View it from the public paths rather than assuming there is visitor access inside.

The wheel is a separate optional attraction. Check its current operation and ticket conditions at the venue if you want a ride. You can enjoy the park’s layout and mountain backdrop without waiting for it, which is useful when the weather changes or your group wants different things.

02

Look closely at the Alphabet Tower

Walk towards the Alphabet Tower and look for the Georgian letters arranged around its double helix. This is a deliberate monument to the alphabet as well as a skyline landmark. The outside view is the main anchor for this route; an observation-deck or restaurant visit needs its own time and current venue information.

Continue towards the Ali and Nino sculpture to complete the cluster of waterfront landmarks. Leave room around other visitors and do not promise yourself a precise movement time. If an area is fenced or being prepared for an event, follow the open public route.

03

Choose sea views or garden shade

Continue along the boulevard on foot. The operator describes a long seaside promenade, four green alleys and a bicycle path; use the pedestrian routes and take care when crossing the cycle lane. Move inland to the garden alleys for shade rather than walking the entire exposed seafront in summer heat.

Set a turnaround that suits your energy and the forecast. There is no need to complete the full seven-kilometre waterfront. A short circuit back to the old town gives you both sea and garden views without a long return after everyone is tired.

04

Pause near 6 May Park

Retro’s Takaishvili Street branch, at number 10 near 6 May Park, gives this walk a concrete food stop away from the exposed shore. Order Adjarian khachapuri if you want the regional cheese boat, checking egg preparation and dietary needs with the kitchen. The named branch matters: do not follow a different Retro listing and assume it is beside this route.

Use the park area as a natural break from the seafront. Keep separate attractions and paid entertainment optional; a slower meal and a return along the garden alleys may suit the day better than another ticket. Ask about dietary needs directly rather than assuming cheese bread suits every member of the group.

Mobile data for your trip. Check what your current plan includes for roaming. If you need another option for maps, messages and booking details, compare NXTL eSIM coverage and rates. Check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked, and check coverage for every stop. Download important maps and confirmations for offline use too.

05

An evening guided alternative

If you would prefer stories and company to another independent circuit, replace the central part of the outing with an evening guided walk. It combines the old-town squares with the northern seafront, so leave your longer boulevard walk for another time.

Compare the Batumi Guided Evening Walking Tour from NATIONAL GEORGIAGRAPHIC as an alternative. The listing describes a two-hour walk from St Nicholas Church through Piazza, Europe Square and the boulevard to Ali and Nino. Choose the appropriate English, Russian or Georgian option for your date. The guide is listed as included, but the description makes a final drink optional; do not assume drinks, tower entry or boat tickets are part of the booking.

06

Change the plan when the sea changes

In strong wind or heavy rain, leave exposed waterfront areas and keep well back from rough water. Boat trips and observation attractions are independent bookings with their own operating decisions. Neither a calm morning nor a ticket listing establishes that an afternoon sailing will run.

If conditions are poor, return to the old-town squares and take a cafe break. Save the coast for another clear interval. This shorter version is a complete outing, not a reason to make up distance in uncomfortable conditions.

07

What belongs in the day bag

Take a breathable waterproof layer, water and shoes with grip. In summer add a sun hat and sunscreen; for winter or cool evenings carry a warmer layer that fits under your outerwear. Keep your phone and travel documents in a protected inner pocket or bag.

If you plan to swim, carry separate beach equipment and follow current local safety signs. Do not let beach footwear become your only walking shoes for a long day on wet paving or for a later Botanical Garden visit.
