Barcelona

Summers are hot, with strong sunshine; winters are generally mild. Rain is possible in every season, with wetter spells more likely outside summer.

Basel

Basel-area ERA5 estimates for 1991–2020 indicate cold winter mornings, warm summer days and precipitation throughout the year. These are modelled city-area estimates, not station normals or forecasts. Bring removable layers, rain protection and shoes that grip wet paving; river terraces can feel cooler than sheltered streets.

Bath

Bath has cool winters and generally mild summers. Rain can interrupt sightseeing in any month; use removable layers rather than relying on a dry season. Beechen Cliff is a hillside station; sheltered streets by the Avon can feel different.

Berat

Berat-area ERA5 reanalysis for 1991–2020 indicates hot, relatively dry summers and cooler, wetter winter weather. These modelled grid estimates are not station normals or forecasts. Stone lanes and exposed castle paths make grip, sun protection and adjustable layers useful; mountain or canyon outings need separate preparation.

The little things worth knowing

Historic brick façade along an Aalborg street

A first weekend in Aalborg

Give Aalborg one waterfront-and-city day, then choose art or archaeology for the second. That keeps the fjord crossing and museum openings from becoming last-minute surprises.

Aalborg Tower among trees at sunset

Aalborg: Kunsten, Kildeparken and a tower choice

Choose Kunsten for art and Alvar Aalto’s architecture, with a park pause on the approach. Aalborg Tower is a separate seasonal viewpoint, so check it before making the climb the purpose of your day.

A serene sunset over Aalborg harbor with silhouetted sailing ships against a vibrant sky.

Aalborg: Lindholm Høje as a separate half-day

Lindholm Høje lies across the fjord from central Aalborg. Give its stone settings and museum a separate half-day, with the indoor opening calendar checked before you travel.

Exterior view of John Bull Pub in Aalborg with outdoor seating on a clear day.

Aalborg: the older centre and a named pub stop

Use Aalborg’s old streets for a compact walk between the centre and fjord. A specific pub stop can make a useful finish, but the architecture and public streets remain the route’s main purpose.

Industrial waterfront and silos reflected in Aalborg’s Limfjord

Aalborg: Utzon Center and the Limfjord waterfront

Aalborg’s waterfront lets you compare a working fjord city with newer cultural buildings. Use the Utzon Center as the main interior, then keep the outdoor route flexible in wind.
