The bridges, canal and long tiled façade of Plaza de España in Seville
Spain

Seville

Seville has very hot summers and generally mild winter afternoons with cooler mornings. Rain is much more likely in the cooler part of the year; summer sunshine does not remove the need to check heat alerts.

China

Shanghai

Shanghai has cool, damp winters and hot, humid summers. Spring and autumn suit longer neighbourhood walks; rain protection remains useful throughout the year, and summer outings need shaded breaks.

Stone walls and towers of Rozafa Castle in Shkodër with the Albanian flag and distant mountains
Albania

Shkodër

Shkodër-area ERA5 reanalysis for 1991–2020 indicates hot summers and wetter cool-season weather. The modelled grid is not a city station or forecast. Pack for exposed castle paving, breezes by the lake and indoor museum stops; river outings and higher Albanian Alps routes require separate forecasts and access checks.

The little things worth knowing

Historic brick façade along an Aalborg street

A first weekend in Aalborg

Give Aalborg one waterfront-and-city day, then choose art or archaeology for the second. That keeps the fjord crossing and museum openings from becoming last-minute surprises.

Aalborg Tower among trees at sunset

Aalborg: Kunsten, Kildeparken and a tower choice

Choose Kunsten for art and Alvar Aalto’s architecture, with a park pause on the approach. Aalborg Tower is a separate seasonal viewpoint, so check it before making the climb the purpose of your day.

A serene sunset over Aalborg harbor with silhouetted sailing ships against a vibrant sky.

Aalborg: Lindholm Høje as a separate half-day

Lindholm Høje lies across the fjord from central Aalborg. Give its stone settings and museum a separate half-day, with the indoor opening calendar checked before you travel.

Exterior view of John Bull Pub in Aalborg with outdoor seating on a clear day.

Aalborg: the older centre and a named pub stop

Use Aalborg’s old streets for a compact walk between the centre and fjord. A specific pub stop can make a useful finish, but the architecture and public streets remain the route’s main purpose.

Industrial waterfront and silos reflected in Aalborg’s Limfjord

Aalborg: Utzon Center and the Limfjord waterfront

Aalborg’s waterfront lets you compare a working fjord city with newer cultural buildings. Use the Utzon Center as the main interior, then keep the outdoor route flexible in wind.
